In first grade students created abstract paintings inspired by Kandinsky. First we read the book, "The Noisy Paint Box" which described how sounds and colors can be connected. We then listened to Wagner and used crayon to color what we heard. After crayon, students added watercolor paint on top of the crayon so see the wax resist. We created some beautiful abstract paintings!
