Third graders learned about color relationships. Colors change depending on what surrounds them. We read the book , An Eye for Color, and discussed color relativity. I then asked the students to create a two-paneled painting with a simple shape in the middle. The inner shapes had to be the same colors, but students had to change the background color to see how the middle one was affected.
