First graders learned about primary and secondary color mixing in this lesson. They were given only red, yellow, blue, and white paint to choose from. The first week we worked "wet on wet" where students painted one rectangle each primary color, or white and then mixed another on top to make a secondary color. The following week we read a story about the connection between color and emotion. Students were asked to paint "wet on dry," while showing a different emotion into each rectangle.
